Volunteer Resources

Wondering what a course actually looks like? Curious about the teaching techniques our volunteers utilize?

Watch Training Videos

We encourage you to watch the eight training videos Cooking Matters Massachusetts developed with generous funding from the Ward Family Foundation.  Each video shows a key behavior in action that helps make the experience as meaningful as possible for both the participants and the volunteers.

Topics include Making it Relevant, Setting the Tone, Leaner-Centered, Team Teaching, Cooking Together, Keeping it Safe, Organizing a Class, and Saving Strategies.

Watch the Volunteer Training Videos online.

Read the Gold Standards

Cooking Matters has developed a list of key behaviors and actions, or “gold standards,” that should take place within each class in order to make the experience as meaningful as possible for participants. These standards provide the guidelines for how an ideal course should function.

Review the Volunteer Gold Standards before your course.
